50 years celebration!
The Norwegian Seamens Choir was founded 19th November in 1959 and consequently celebrating 50 years in activity during the year with various celebrations throug 2009 as appearence in TV2 God morgen Norge, receive honnours in the Oslo Cityhall, extra conserts, etc.

OTHER:
The choir members were important co-players during the annual Christmas evening
program "Vi går ombord" with the popular anchor-man Erik Bye, broadcasted live on
NRK- the Norwegian national radio and television - through dacades.

Some of the songs have become big hits in Norway.
The choir sings both Norvegian and international songs.

Det Norske Sjømannskor main objective is to be a neutral representative for seamen,
to bring pleasure and encouragement, to conserve and raise old traditional shanties
and seamen songs and to represent and elevate the seamen reputation.

The choir is an "institution" in Norway and takes often part in important ceremonies
related to ships and the sea.

Some of the original members from 1959 are still in the choir.

Accordeonist: Erik Bergene (Norwegian and Scandinavian champion)
